2025 World Congress on Kinesiology and Sport Science

The 2025 World Congress on Kinesiology and Sport Science (WCKSS 2025) was held on October 25–27, 2025, at the Jeju International Convention Center on Jeju Island, South Korea. At this conference, Sou Takahashi, a first-year student in the Department of Information Engineering, presented his research findings in the field of sports biomechanics. His presentation, titled “Estimation of Effective Pedal Force Initiation Angle and Crank Movement Speed in Cycling Using Markerless Motion Capture,” proposed a data feedback system using video analysis for competitive cyclists. After the presentation, Sou commented, “Through questions from international researchers, I was able to consider the global significance and challenges of my research from multiple perspectives. In addition, engaging in discussions in English made me realize once again the importance of the language.”

His advisor, Mr. Ichiya, remarked, “It is extremely rare for a first-year student to participate in an international conference and deliver a research presentation in English. I believe this was an invaluable experience for him. It was particularly impressive that, even at his first academic conference—which happened to be an international one—he actively exchanged ideas with overseas researchers and presented his work with confidence. I look forward to seeing him build on this experience to further develop his research and broaden his international perspective.”
